Helping people to achieve their goals, whatever they might be, is a wonderfully rewarding thing to be a part of.
It is incredible to see people change before your eyes; becoming happier versions of themselves as they move towards where they want to be.
To see them develop new strategies for coping that will help them live their lives in a more satisfying way, now and in the future.
I have always enjoyed being involved in seeing people learn, change and develop. As a teacher in a highly successful sixth form college for 15 years, my role was to help students to achieve their potential. General anxiety, and specific anxiety around performance in exams is sometimes a reason they don't achieve what they are capable of, and this needn't be the case. I always encourage students to incorporate relaxation and positive visualisations into their exam preparation, now I am adamant that it can help anyone facing a challenging situation.
My own personal experience of hypnotherapy has also been instrumental in me becoming a practitioner. I knew that childbirth was going to be a situation that would really challenge me; I like to be in control, and don't really like pain. In order to give myself the best chance of coping with that, I tried hypnobirthing. It was amazing. A really positive experience, that helped me to cope with and enjoy the births of both my daughters. I knew that I needed to be able to stay in control of my mind (if nothing else during that time) and it proved to me that your mind really is the key!
Of all the different types of hypnotherapy (and there are many), Solution Focused Hypnotherapy really appealed to me because I love the idea that we don't have to dwell on the problems of the past, we can work positively towards whatever it is that the client wants to achieve. This makes the whole process wonderfully uplifting and rewarding for the client (and me!).
Only about 20% of hypnotherapists in the UK have a formal qualification from the National Council for Hypnotherapy; it was really important to me that I have recognised and robust qualifications.
I have the Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma (HPD) alongside a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH) and I am a member of two of the professional bodies, the NCH and the AfSFH.
I also have an up to date enhanced DBS certificate.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
Unlock your potential and achieve your goals
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a talking therapy that uses practical, modern and well researched strategies, along with the most up to date neuroscience to help people make significant, positive changes in a relatively short period of time.
It is designed to reduce anxiety and calm the mind and is future oriented; Solution Focused Hypnotherapy looks at what the person wants to achieve, rather than the problems that prompted them to seek change, so no need to re-live traumatic events.
The focus is on solutions and visualising the achievable steps needed to enable the person to move forward with their life. We use trance (which is a natural, relaxed state - think daydreaming rather than mind control!) to allow the subconscious mind to problem solve, finding the best possible solution for themselves.
Contrary to the image portrayed in films, books and the media, hypnosis cannot make someone do something they don’t want to do; the subconscious mind will simply reject anything that does not fit.
We work together to find appropriate solutions for you.

What my clients say...
“I saw Lindsay initially to help me with weight loss. After struggling for many years and trying many, many different diets I decided maybe a different approach was in order. Well I can not put into words how pleased I am having made that decision. After just a few sessions with Lindsay I had a whole new mindset and I honestly haven't looked back!
I am now 10lbs from my target weight and more importantly know I am in control of my diet and my decisions.”
